For the media portion of the job, the scope of work included wiring the rooms for cable TV and networking, installing a Windows Media Center server, a patch panel, a wireless router, and two wide screen TVs. For lighting control, the Digital Innovations team installed Universal Powerline Bus (UPB) light switches throughout the house plus an integrated programmable thermostat. The security system includes wireless smoke detectors, motion detectors on all three levels plus door and window sensors. The lighting and security devices all tie into a control box mounted on a wall and connected to the server. Finally, the team set up a wireless, Bose Internet radio and speaker system that enables us to receive high quality digital radio music broadcasts from thousands of stations around the world. Installation included integration, testing and fine tuning of all devices. After the fine tuning phase, in the approximately two years since installation, we have made no trouble calls to Digital Innovations and all systems continue to work as advertised. Our system gives us extensive capabilities. The security system can be accessed from two entryway key pads, our TV screens, the Internet and even my smart phone, so we can check and control our system from just about anywhere. During a recent cruise, we could see when a care taker arrived and left each day and could check the status of lighting and temperature while aboard ship. The Media Center server services two cable TV boxes and gives us a full range of TV viewing including recording and playback of shows. We found the Digital Innovations team to be smart, friendly and competent as well as flexible when we requested a few changes to the set up.
